We have super-specialized doctors in head & neck surgery. There is a team of highly skilled technicians and physicians who evaluate and interpret the results meticulously and provide correct reports to the specialists to take appropriate treatment decision.

Pure tone audiometry (PTA) is a hearing test to identify the hearing threshold of a person. This test is used to determine the presence or absence of hearing loss. If hearing loss is detected then the audiologist will be able to detect both the type of hearing loss and also the degree.

The person will be made to sit in a soundproof room with headphones on the ear and a bone conduction headband on your head. The audiologist will be sitting outside the soundproof room to manipulate the audiometry equipment while testing your hearing.

There are two parts to this test. Firstly your audiologist makes you listen to sounds at various volumes and frequencies to test whether you are able to hear a variety of different pitches. You will be asked to push a button or raise your hand when you hear these different tones. This part of the test examines air conduction and bone conduction. Your audiologist will compare the results of the two types of conduction to determine which part of your auditory system is responsible for the loss.

Myringotomy Tubes or Ear Ventilation Tubes is one of the most common procedures that ENT doctors perform. This test is performed to treat middle ear infections. It is a simple test and can be performed at the doctor’s clinic.

During the procedure, a small incision is made behind the eardrum and the fluid is removed. A small plastic tube is placed to allow the air to enter the space and also to keep the hole open. The air that enters the space behind the eardrum prevents the re-accumulation of the fluid. There is a possibility of ear infection caused due to the tubes and it can be treated using antibiotic ear drops. Tubes are usually kept for a year or 6-18 months and then they typically fall off. Children require anaesthesia while performing the test.

Tonsillectomy is a common procedure performed when a person is suffering from a sore throat or infection. This procedure is also performed when the tonsils are swollen which cause a breathing obstruction and ultimately results in sleep apnea.

The procedure to remove the tonsils is performed under general anaesthesia and it takes about half an hour to complete the test. The tonsils are removed from the mouth and no incision is made on the skin. The medical staff here will monitor your blood pressure and heart rate as you wake up. The doctor will inform whether or not to continue the medication. Medicines like aspirin will be asked to discontinue 1- 2 weeks before the surgery. Patients can experience some pain as they recover from the surgery. They will be asked to sip water or eat ice pops to stay hydrated without hurting their throat. The person requires 1- 2 weeks of rest and only light activity is recommended to reduce the possibility of bleeding.

Septoplasty, Turbinectomy is a surgery in which the septum (the part that separates the left side from the right side in the nose) is partially or totally removed and then replaced in the right position. The turbinates are structures that are present on the side of the nose which humidifies and heats the air we breathe. If they are swollen, they can obstruct the breathing passage and so the surgeon performs the surgery to improve the ability to breathe through the nose.

Every surgery is performed depending on the specific health issue. There is a possibility of post-surgical oozing, swelling or crusting and the surgeon will use a packed material such as cotton in order to reduce the bleeding from the nose.
